Things I learned as a freelance
Things I learned as a freelance
Quit their jobs, rather than moving to a new, is a major decision. Many of you have to do to ensure that you can only in the first few months, but after so many years, life is not the case. I am also looking for another job before I left my last job, but when I did not find one, I think I thought I would not let me stay in one place, I pay so little, but other people to do more more training and more difficult courses. So I put my letter, that a lot in the past 9 years.
Do not let someone else will your interest rate. In the training industry, we have a coach who maintain the company's training resources, and the list of many suppliers. They set up the rate, when economic conditions are poor, lower interest rates, because they can keep their customers to get paid, which means that we much less. Good, price is not returned, unless they are the speed of the coaching staff. This may be true with other types of freelancers. The price is not the same as you, but in a shop is more like a market, start higher, then you will know what is the lowest, but you will accept.
You are a brand. I heard a lot about this over the years, the most confusing, because I am not marketing or public relations, but a coach, who when she's training and can not really do anything else. This is not true. I spent a long period of time, a book and in public relations and marketing friend taught me, you can do a personal brand in social media age, many, many tons of time. Articles and blog is one way, they are static, so people can go back and see you a few years ago to write the project. Twitter is another tool, you know one, give some of your knowledge, people will come back as a customer. All this, though, quality is the key, the old (very old established), said garbage in, garbage out (GIGO that effect) is true. You have to give up quality in a very long time. An article and a couple tweet does not make an empire!
Finding a market niche. As the No. 2 has a lot of the book, my favorite is the "book by Michael himself solid in Hong Kong." It took a friend and business mentor told me that I was two areas and should be different in my business. I think that, as a software aimed at computer training will be a niche market, no. For an industry, an area (such as Excel, statistics) is niche, but if they ask you if you can train … you can answer yes.
Save. It is difficult, if you do not earn much, but I found a large number of times I make, I save everything I can still live a normal life, then I am about the future. If you do not have enough income to save, it might be time to talk about and operational guidance.
Find a mentor. I only recently done so, I would like years ago. If you do not know of an independent business school, and other organizations who have a business guide to build your business on the survival of sufficient, you do more. It costs money, but a good mentor can help you get financing, grants you the right direction that the service is affordable. The economy does not mean freedom, but there is a greater rate of return throwing your money when you are not sure it will work.
I know these are just some things over the years. I just want someone to tell me, before I quit my work, my freelance business more profitable, and there are a lot less pressure!
